Meet Our Staff


JACK VOELKER, general manager
Jack has served the Chautauqua Institution since 1987 as Director of Recreation and Youth Services, and in December of 2008 he assumed the additional responsibility of General Manager of the Chautauqua Golf Club. Jack brings extensive experience in facility management, program development, youth activities and organizational planning to his role at the golf club. A native Western New Yorker, he is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. Jack has taught courses in recreation programming and management at Jamestown Community College, is a frequent presenter at state and local recreation conferences, and remains active in community volunteer work.

TROY MOSS, head golf professional
Troy has been the Head Golf Professional at Chautauqua Golf Club since 1991. He was born and raised in Mayville, NY. An outstanding organizational person, Troy's duties include organizing and conducting over 30 tournaments during the season. He also conducts the junior program on Wednesday afternoons. This is a series of lessons aimed at juniors to get them started in golf. Troy was on the WNY PGA Junior Tour committee and organized many of the junior tournaments that were conducted in our area. He was also the golf coach at Jamestown Community College. Troy is a devoted student of the game and an excellent player, participating in many local pro-ams and has been champion of many.

RICH BURLETT III, assistant golf professional
Rich grew up in Fredonia, NY and graduated from Mercyhurst College in 1999 with a BA concentration in Golf Course and Golf Club Management. He doubled as the Clubhouse Manager and Assistant Golf Professional at Chautauqua Golf Club for four years, and then became the Head Golf Professional at Harbor Ridge Golf Course 2004-2009. He was assistant coach for Penn State Behrend Golf Team 2005-2009. He has been playing professionally for seven years. Notable tournament wins include the national tournament Golfweek Team championship; along with other local PGA of America, sectional wins. He has played in two New York State Opens and two TaylorMade Addidas National PGA Assistants Championships. He has made multiple starts on the Nationwide Tour and is currently offering lessons to all levels of golfers.

TREVOR BURLINGAME, head greens superintendent
Trevor has been the Head Green Superintendent at Chautauqua Golf Club since 2002. Before coming to Chautauqua, Trevor was the Head Superintendent at Elkdale Country Club in Salamanca, NY and Assistant Superintendent at Transit Valley Country Club in East Amherst, NY. He grew up in Russell, PA, graduated from Cobleskill College in Cobleskill, NY with a degree in Turfgrass Management. Trevor is a past president of the WNY Golf Course Superintendents Association.

SUELLEN NORTHROP, teaching professional
Suellen Northrop joined the professional staff in 2006. Suellen first played golf at Chautauqua as a six-year-old and during her high school years she reigned as the women's club champion. She has served as Head professional at three different clubs and is currently Director of Instruction at Admiral Cove Country Club in Palm Beach County, FL. Suellen has coached thirteen different LPGA touring professionals and serves the LPGA as one of only sixteen National Evaluators. These select leaders assess the teaching skills of LPGA members seeking certification as professionals. A great student of the game, she brings her experience, knowledge and passion for golf home to Chautauqua. She has the ability to assess a player's strengths and weaknesses and designs instruction tailored to the individual.
